It's a monster...

I had the shock of my life on Tuesday when I went down to collect my eggs and let the hens out for a run. I'm not sure who, but one of the girls had laid an enormous egg. It almost had a join in it as though 2 eggs had fused together.

I had to crack it and there inside were 2 yolks. My first double-yolk!

Stupidly, I forgot to cover the bowl and it stayed on the worktop all night. By the morning, it had a nasty skin on it so I had to throw it away instead of making some delicious scrambled eggs...

We're off glamping for the weekend. I hope it doesn't rain all weekend, but I think I have packed for every eventuality - suncream, wellies, umbrellas...

  3. What a whopper. You have to feel slightly sorry for the hen.

Have a marvelous glamp - I milked a sheep while we were there. And trimmed it's toenails. Ovine beauty therapy of sorts.

Okay I admit it I had to google for the right term!

  6. You can tell which chicken it was. She is the one standing all day and night with a single teardrop in her eye.

  7. Oh, I'm so envious! I've not had a double yolker yet, despite a few eye wateringly large eggs.

Have a wonderful time glamping - we have to wait for August for our trip there. Really looking forward to hearing all about it!

  13. oh how exciting... but I do feel somewhat sorry for that poor hen. In the words of my second child "that must have hurt, mummy" (his favourite phrase when we watch you've been framed!)

    how was the glamping?
