Since I last posted about the flock of parakeets that have been feeding in my garden, they have become a more and more regular part of the day. They always come at around the same time (early afternoon) and they always send a look-out first. This Very Important Bird sits at the top of the tallest tree and surveys the garden before he lets the others know it is safe to come over.
They are becoming increasingly tame too. Yesterday I managed to go from the back door to the edge of the deck with my camera to photograph them without them spooking and flying off.
It feels like such a treat to have them in my garden.
Slightly more exotic than my fat pigeons!! Mind you, you have a much more impressive array of bird feeders too.
ReplyDeleteThey are such a pretty green colour. Thanks for sharing.

I love them! It's mad that they're wild in London. The visitors I have to my garden are raucous magpies and all the neighbours' cats.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Very Important Bird has a scout over my garden and thinks 'no way'!
How great to have such a lovely bird in your garden. So far they don't seem to be visiting this part of London.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore our parakeets. We have two flocks that zoom by the windows--and like you said always around the same time each day! But we have some very anti-parakeet people on the allotments. Sigh.

They're in a tree behind my house, too - they've only come so close during this past few weeks. I love that flash of colour. The first time I saw them, years ago, I thought I was hallucinating!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know these were wild in London... how exotic. We have crows!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. These images are fantastic. It was such a thrill to catch a glimpse of a few on Saturday and to hear them squawking. It must be fabulous to see them up close like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic photographs. When we lived in London (Peckham) we had them in our garden from time to time as they lived on Peckham Rye. I love your Magnolia photographs as well, I've just been trudging around taking pics of Magnolias in other people's front gardens - they are quite extraordinary aren't they?
ReplyDeleteAren't they wonderful! Much more fun to watch than the little brown birds that frequent my garden!
ReplyDeleteOoooh what a cuties these are! Yes, you should feel very lucky!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these pictures.

What fab photos. My MIL in London has these in her garden all the time and they drive her MAD. Personally, I think it makes for quite exotic living...! Ax
ReplyDeleteWow, very colourful. Can't wait for the photograph of one sitting on your shoulder.
ReplyDeleteI am stunned that you have wild outdoor parakeets. Cannot wrap my head around that one.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS photos.
